Facebook announced in late 2018 that it plans to post ads through WhatsApp. Facebook is once again planning to show personalized ads via WhatsApp.
However, earlier this year, the Wall Street Journal reported that Facebook was moving away from WhatsApp’s ad-sales plan, focusing on improving WhatsApp Business-related features for business users.
Previously, Facebook was ready to merge WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram. Mark Zuckerberg has said that the merger will take more time than predicted and will not be completed by the end of 2020, although they plan to make money using WhatsApp data. It has been suggested that some other method of earning should be used.
The Information website reports that Facebook is planning to re-launch ads through WhatsApp. Facebook is designed to show targeted ads through WhatsApp by matching phone numbers and WhatsApp phone numbers in users’ Facebook accounts.
However, some executives at the company are reportedly opposed to the plan, which they say could lead to some WhatsApp users deleting their Facebook accounts.
